First of all it arrived in three days! Yes, three days! When I opened the package my bracelet was gift wrapped! That’s a big deal to me! I don’t get presents very often so to get a hand wrapped gift made me feel very very special. Every piece of jewelry is mailed in a tarnish resistant bag. So when your jewelry arrives don’t toss that bag! It will be usable for at least a full year! I’m so happy that this bracelet is available in three lengths (7, 7 1/2 or 8″) . What a Blessing that is for many women! I ordered the 7″ and it’s perfect for me! I love the lobster claw clasp! That’s the sign of a well made piece of jewelry in my opinion! I always feel secure knowing I won’t loose my jewelry when it has a lobster claw clasp! There are three piece of turquoise on each side of the bracelet and several silver beads which give this bracelet such wonderful visual appeal. I adore the rope textured links on the bracelet as well. Such attention to detail! That’s what makes To Be Me Jewelry special!

Note: this piece was originally written for my editing and publication class; the assignment was to write a short piece (no longer than 750 words), either an editorial or a review. I chose an editorial, and I’m sure all my readers will be glad to know I got an “A.” I often wear a bright green woven bracelet with purple beads on my left wrist. People who notice it usually ask if I made it, to which I answer, ��No, a girl in Cambodia did.�� I then explain that no, my bracelet was not made in a sweat shop. I don’t know the identity of the girl who made my bracelet, but I do know that, whoever she is, she is a survivor of sexual slavery. The girl who made my bracelet was, like millions of young women and children in Southeast Asia, kidnapped or sold into prostitution at a young age, perhaps as young as five. Unlike most of the victims of this modern slavery, though, the girl who made my bracelet was rescued from captivity and brought somewhere safe to recover and heal, thanks to the Somaly Mam Foundation.

Only one more to go! And I’m really looking forward to finishing off the Bead Journal Project with a bang this year. But for right now…November. Harvest colors and an earthy Guatemalan background material. I’m satisfied, and it goes with a lot of my fall/winter clothing 
My son and his family live in Guatemala, where they help to run an orphanage. The last time we went down to visit them, I bought some fabrics, which I have slowly been using in projects ever since. Is Bead Washing Necessary?
Afellow beader and coworker of mine stopped by to show me her newest creations today. She had made a great necklace using a gold beading wire with a large square dichroic bead as the focal piece. She just happened to have a top the same deep green, it was great! The other piece she made to go along with the dichroic necklace was a bracelet using beads she recently found on sale at a home liquidation store. They are the kind of glass beads you get in a plastic box with lots of different pieces and parts. She asked about some white dust coming out of the bracelet beads from the glass bead kit. I have bought kits like that over the years at the craft store and when I first began beading, back at our old Hancock Fabrics store. Some are solid colors, others were bumpy and some had swirls on them like the ones shown here. I have theories on the white dust and think you could rinse them, especially if you are making jewelry to sell to customers.
